Tourism Kamloops’ Double Dog Dare!

Kamloops, BC: Fresh off of winning the Innovative Marketing Campaign Award for its "Mark Madryga - Kamloops' Hometown Boy" campaign awarded by the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, Tourism Kamloops will launch one of its most ‘daring’ campaigns yet.

“We’re excited to be launching our Double Dog Dare campaign featuring TV Personality, Meteorologist and Kamloops’ Home Town Boy, Mark Madryga,” said Tourism Kamloops’ CEO Ms. Lee Morris. “The campaign promises to be a lot of fun for people who get the opportunity to not only to see all Kamloops has to offer in recreational outdoor activities and attractions, but to dare Mark Madryga to partake in these challenges by voting on-line.”

These adventures range from a Walk-on Role in Project X Theatre Productions’ presentation of the Rocky Horror Show this summer and robbing the ‘2141’ steam locomotive to hand feeding the wolves at the BC Wildlife Park and mutton busting.

The campaign will launch province wide on Monday, May 10 on GlobalTV BC, where Mark Madryga is the morning news’ senior meteorologist. In addition, an on-line marketing strategy will commence utilizing E-blasts, Facebook, Twitter and more.

People will go to the Tourism Kamloops website and select three Double Dog Dare Challenges they want to see Mark do, with Mark doing the challenges later this summer. “We see this generating a lot of buzz,” says Ms. Morris. “The key benefit for us will be people going to tourismkamloops.com to vote, and then while they’re there, to look further into how great our city is for a getaway and a vacation.”

Tourism Kamloops has seen continual growth in their website visits in 2010 which can be directly attributed to increased marketing efforts to the Lower Mainland and other key market areas. These increases have driven more interest to all tourism products featured on the website including accommodation, golf product, attractions, nightlife and more.
